Where did this week go??!!!

So here's a synopsis of the current happenings around here:

1 - Spelling Bee:  Madi did great in the spelling bee.  Her first word to spell during the practice round was "Warrior" which was awesome since it's her favorite book series at the moment.  So of course, she aced it.  She then spelled two more words correctly in the first two rounds.  In the third round, she got the word "abracadabra" and spelled it with a "k" instead of a "c" and missed an "a" somewhere.  She paused half way through it after the "k" and was really working hard to remember it.  Did her best!!  Very proud of her!

2 - School:  She is studying the Alamo, Daniel Boone, Stephen Austin, etc...  so she'll have a project coming up where she has to make a replica of the Alamo.  Grades are awesome.  All A's from what we've seen on papers and things brought home.  Her behavior has been fabulous at school and she hasn't been getting any laps even when others in her class are talking out.  She's using self-control and staying on-task which is great.

3 - Home:  Things are going fairly smoothly.  We had a few talks this week about respecting us when we ask her to not do something.  There is always a reason behind it and it's never just to say "no" for the sake of saying "no."  For example, if we tell her not to ask to go over someone's house, but then goes ahead and invites herself over after being told not to.  However, we've talked with her about it and she's getting it.  We told her that she can't learn things like this unless she's in a situation to learn it.  So it's just a learning time with things like this.

She's been doing awesome on her chores and keeping her room neat, laundry is going great, WOW is fun for her, she and Riley have been getting along really well, ... so all in all it's going great!!

This weekend is pretty low-key.  Madi had Friday and Monday off of school.  I had a teacher work day yesterday which was awesome because I had so much work to get done.  We have one more chapter left of Romans and then she'll have finished the book.  We talked about what a few of the words in chapter 15 meant and explained what Paul was saying.  She has been asking some spiritual questions lately and trying to figure out things like "Do you pray to Mary?  Do you say Hail Marys?  Why not?"   So it's been good teaching opportunities.

I have had a lot of meetings, tutoring after school and so I haven't been on here much.  Will try to get on here more next week than I was this week!
