Flat Tire

Started out quite eventful today.  Riley woke up to go potty at 5:45am.  Her bladder was ready to get up and go, but the rest of her was not.  She had a complete meltdown when we told her that we were out of toaster pastries (fancy word for poptarts).  And I mean complete meltdown!  Jer and I got her dressed as fast as possible and took her to the car.  She's still on the mend from her sickness last week and was quite out of it this morning, but we still corrected her and did our best to keep our sanity.

We dropped the girls off and all went great there.  Stopped at North Colony before turning left onto the street.  As I started to go, I thought the car was slipping on ice.  Had a hard time turning and it was somewhat skidding to the right side.  I told Madi that we had quite the ice patch on the road.  But sadly, I quickly realized that it wasn't ice and told her I was actually thinking we had a flat tire.  So I drove for a short distance and pulled off on one of the front alley ways in front of the houses where we could look at it.  Madi got out and goes "Wow - That's flat!"  We both stood outside the car and just started to laugh.  Got in the car and continued laughing.  Nothing else we could do.

I tried to call the school to tell them what had happened, but it was super early (7:15-7:20am) and no one was answering.  Jer left his phone at home so I wasn't getting through to him either.  So we sat in the car and I called my mom to ask what to do.  Have never had a flat before and wasn't about to try to fix it myself in the cold weather.  Thankful for a coworker who drove up to ask if I needed a ride.  She'd seen us standing outside looking at the tire and turned around to help.  Such awesome friends!!!!  So thankful.

Got to work in time to do my morning duty outside and then start class.  Was a crazy morning.  A friend covered my fourth grade class so I could meet up with the car people to get it taken care of and another friend took me to my car which was about half a mile or so away from school.  So thankful for them.

After school, I had my team lead meeting and Madi had her Zumba party.  Meeting was so long and got out late.  I called Jer to find out where he wanted me to take the car.  We always go the same place, but he checked rates at other places just in case.  I stopped at McDonald's since we needed to get Madi dinner.  She was sooo excited!  We never go there, but since it was on the way, I asked if she'd want some.  Figure if we have to sit at a dealership, she might as well have something she likes for dinner.  We were at the dealership for two hours. Argh...

They were great about everything.  Four brand new tires, an alignment and a few other tweaks and we were out the door.  Not really excited at all about spending $553, but had to be done.  The tires were abysmal.  So I guess putting air in tires is actually important after all :)  Will have to pay more attention to keeping my tires aired up so they don't pop again from wear on the sides!

Madi was really great at the dealership.  She finished most of her homework and then read a bit and crocheted a bit.  Thankfully I had some yarn and hooks so I made a hat and started a scarf and we just did the best we could.  Jer picked up the girls from school around 6:10pm.  We got home at 7pm.  Madi finished her spelling work and then wanted to read.  She's quite tired.

Work has been tough.  Won't go into details on here, but it's been just challenging.  Lots of demands and not much encouragement.  Frustrating.  Trying to stay positive and do what I need to do.

Tomorrow is piano students.  I have a new one so I'm up to six students a week which is helping quite a bit financially and they're really great kids.  We're planning to go to see Mamaw this weekend.  Probably Saturday morning before Julia's nap.
