Let the Good Times Roll

Another amazing day here today.  It's been one of the best weeks all summer I do believe.  I had written a coworker (Erin) whose daughter is also in 4th grade this year and asked if Avery, her daughter, was available to play today.  She got back to me and said "of course!" so she brought Avery over around 10:30am today.  The girls went upstairs into Madi's room and drew on her new stencil/design set of fashion doll pictures.  Riley, Jules and I played in the playroom and just let them get to know each other and talk.  Avery is also good friends with Hannah, her playdate yesterday.  Madi has really enjoyed getting to know the girls.  It's been neat to see how they interact and the last two days, the girls have just clicked.  Seemed completely natural that they'd be friends and it was just so fun to watch her making new friends.

So the girls drew and then played Wii Fit.  It was cute watching them run... err, I mean Madi run.  Avery just moved her arms as though she was running with her feet too.  Was really funny because Madi was working SO hard to run fast and Avery is just pumping her arms as fast as possible, but Madi didn't know that she wasn't running until Avery told her at the end.

We had the same lunch as yesterday - fruit, pretzels and sandwiches.  Since we got the free pack for reading books from the Frisco Library, we had two free games of bowling at Strikz.  So I looked up online how much shoe rental was and the cost of adding an extra game.  It was fairly inexpensive so the four girls and I went up to Strikz to play a game for only $13!  I didn't actually play, but I helped Riley and juggled feeding Julia while the other girls bowled.  We decided to use the bumper lanes after one frame and that helped a lot.  Final score was:  Avery, 61;  Madi, 60;  Riley, 58.  The girls were so well behaved and smiled the whole time.

We dropped Avery at home and got to talk with her mom and pet their dogs.  Madi also showed off her skills on the RipStick - she's quite good!!  Then off we went to go get Madi's hair cut at Tony's.  We let her choose how long she wanted it and Lindsay only cut off about 2 inches - maybe a little bit less.  But it looks great.

Madi was going to go swimming with Jadyn, another girl from school, but between the weather and Jadyn's mom having to work late, we had to postpone it for another day.  So we went home and hung out for a short while.  Madi finished her IXL.  I had given her really easy sections the past few days after she had such hard ones last week.  Tomorrow is a tougher one, but there are two sections that I'll be going over with her that I know were covered in third grade here last year.

We had chicken with garlic, cream, parmesan sauce with rigatoni.  It's become one of Madi's favorites.  Madi read with Jeremy - Matthew 4 and a chapter of their book together.  Riley and I had our night together.

I can't tell you what a difference this week has been from last week.  One of the best parts about today was when I asked Madi what she thought of Avery and Hannah.  Her response was "They are amazing."  And she said it with pure emotion of just loving them to pieces and had that sigh in her voice that really showed how much she likes them.  It's really going to be such an amazing year for her and I'm so glad she'll be with the kids she'll be with.  She's asking a lot of questions about school and the clubs and getting excited about it.

Tomorrow she was supposed to get together with Mason, but his mom is sick :(  I felt so bad for her when she talked to him and got the news.  She's been SOOO looking forward to it.  We'll be sure to find a Saturday during the school year where she can go spend the day with them.  She handled it very well and didn't get upset, but was just sad.  So I'm going to see if Hannah can play again and if not, we'll try to spend our last free Friday doing something really fun.
